Registration Questions:
What are the entry fees?
Cost for Age Group Participants for Sprint Race is now $95. Cost for Elite and U23 Olympic Distance Race is now $75. Cost for Elite Junior and Elite Youth Sprint Distance Raced is now $50
Is there race day registration and when is packet pick up?
Packet pick-up and late registration will be held on Saturday, June 24, from 10am-4pm in the Alamitos beach parking lot. The lot is located south of Shoreline Drive and adjacent to Alfredo's Beach Shack There will also be race day packet pick-up beginning at 5:00am. No materials will be sent out to competitors. There will be NO race day registration.
Can I mail in race applications?

Can someone else pick up my race packet?
Yes, print out the registration form and sign the waiver. Your friend/family must turn in the waiver and present your USAT membership card to pick up your race packet. Packet pick up is also available on race morning.
What is the transfer/refund policy?
We do not provide refunds. You may roll over your registration to 2007 if you cannot participate.
Do I need my USAT card or photo ID?
Yes, you will need both.

Is there chip timing?
Yes, we use Champion Chip Timing
What are course distances?
The Sprint Distance Race is : .5-Mile Swim, 12.4-mile cycle, 3.1-mile run (Age Group / Elite Juniors & Youth) The Olympic Distance Race is: .93-mile swim, 24.8 mile cycle, 6.2-mile run (Elite / U23)
Can age groupers do the Olympic distance?
No, due to street closure restrictions for this inaugural event, the Olympic Distance is limited to the Elite Men/Women and U/23. This may be an option in '07.
Where is transition area?
Parking lot area behind Alfredo's Beach Club off Shoreline Drive
What time does transition close?
Transition will close at 5:45 for Elites. Juniors, Youth and Age group will be able to access the transition throughout the morning, but should be completely set up 15 minutes prior to their race. Since the bike path is used by the earlier waves, there will be times that athletes cannot use the bike path to access transition area. Please plan accordingly and arrive at least an hour early to set up. The entrance to transition is on the west side of the parking lot. Volunteers will direct the athletes to this entrance. Athletes should not use the swim in/run out entrance to initially enter the transition area.
Where are the spectator areas?
The best areas for spectator viewing are near the transition area, finish line area, Shoreline Drive and the bike path. For the safety of the participants, please stay behind the barricades, cones and flags. Spectators will not be allowed on the actual course.
How many aid stations are there?
There will be 2 aid stations. The first one is located at the transition exit on the bike path. The second is located at the u-turn on the run.
Where do I park?
All athletes should plan on parking in the Junipero beach parking lot. You will enter the parking lot from Ocean Blvd., taking Junipero down the hill and turning right to use the far west portion of the parking lot.
Athletes will ride their bikes along bike path approximately a .5 mile west to the transition area to begin setting up and preparing for the race. Please bring all race equipment you will need after parking and riding to the transition area.
What is the typical water temp?
The Water temperature is typically 64 degrees.
Are wetsuits allowed?
Yes, wetsuits are allowed and they are optional for participants
Can I do a swim/bike warm up before the race?
There will be a designated swim warm up area that is east of the swim course.
Is this a draft legal race?
The event is draft legal for Elite, U23, Junior and Youth athletes. It will not be draft legal for the age group division.
Are the race briefings mandatory?
The Elite, U23, Juniors and Youth Athletes who will be competing course MUST attend the briefing on Saturday June 24th, 5:00 pm at the Hyatt. Age group athletes do not need to attend. When will results be posted?
Results will be posted on the website, www.thebeachtri.com , the night of the race.
Will there be race photos?
Yes, Birghtroom Photography will be taking race photos and they are available for sale at www.brightroom.com
What is prize purse?

Will there be relays?
No, due to street closure limitations in this inaugural year, a relay event is not being offered this year. We may have one in '07.
General Questions:
Is this the Long Beach Triathlon?
No, this is a seperate event.
What are the nearby hotels?
The Hyatt Hotel is the official Headquarters Hotel and is closest to the start and finish line.
The Renaissance Hotel is also offering a special Beach Triathlon Rate and is just a half block from the Hyatt Hotel and a short walk to the start and finish. Go to the lodging section of the website for more information.
Can I ship my bike to Long Beach to be held for pick-up?
Yes, you must ship via DHL and they will hold your bike for pick up at the Signal Hill location. Please see Event Details page for specific shipping instructions.
